Point to ponder
How will you manage the learning in the room?
Class management can take many forms. From behavior management & assignment management, to all that teacher paperwork! Digital platforms can come in handy. But beware, changing how you manage something does have a storming phase. It will not seem natural at first and may take some retraining of yourself before the benefits can be seen.

Behavior Management
Class Dojo
One of my long time favorites is ClassDojo. Why do I keep going beck to this? One word: Versatility.
You can run the Dojo from many devices, parents get real time feedback, you can communicate with parents through the application, and you can also award positive behaviors. The ability to notify of positives is my favorite part. Another ability is to track frequency of behaviors. You can find solutions to frequent issues easier.
Other features that come in handy...
So, if your tired of those folders (as a parent I know I am), try out the Dojo. The main key is for parents to sign up, but the main objective is for parents to actually look at the folder. So, instead of managing all those behavior sheets and folders, Dojo can help. This day and age parents have devices capable of access oon a daily basis, it is rare to find a large group of parents without a smart phone. I'm not saying they do not exist, but if this was something usual in your area you probably wouldn't be looking at this page in the first place. Right? So, if you want information to be put in the faces of parents use what they have with them all the time! Why not?

Other features that come in handy...
- Messaging- This works like instant messenger or texting to parents without giving out your personal cell phone number to them.
- Classroom Story- This fairly new feature allows you to give a Twitter like news feed for the classroom. One main benefit to using this through Dojo include better privacy because you are only showing invited parents what is going on in the room.

Planning & Lesson management
Google DriveWell, what can I say? I was really tired of lugging those things everywhere, printing for multiple people, collaborating and collaborating and collaborating. Plus, every time you turn around there is a meeting. Well, google drive can be accessed on any device. I have just my phone, iPad, and computer to join into a collaboration, send plans, and view plans the moment I needed them without having to run back to my classroom for my plan book. All those pictures you love to take can be uploaded directly to the drive from your device so you can print it from anywhere.

Portfolio Management
This area will depend on what you or your district considers a digital portfolio.
Google DriveGoogle drive gives the ability to share or generate a link to anything it houses in your drive. This is extremely versatile when it comes to sharing or determining what level of privacy you require. Having students create a google drive account to house and manage their digital items. This works for ANY item uploaded or created in the drive. Students can easily share their portfolio folders with you or anyone with ease.

Do you have a lot of documents or pages of work that you need to scan, but either don't have a scanner or the time to find one? Genius scan is amazing! I have used this so much I even convinced a law firm to use it. It works with your camera and the free version will create what you scan into a PDF. you can send the PDF via email! I love using this to add things to portfolios, send scans to parents, or to duplicate pages needed for an activity quickly without running to the printer across the building.
