Point to Ponder
Making math digital is a challenge, so my challenge for you is to open you eyes and push back any thought of "oh wow that looks time consuming" or "no way I could make that". Trust me, anything newly learned is time consuming in the beginning, and anyone can do it!
So, why can't math be digital?

Making it Happen
So, where do you begin? Well, first you need a website platform. Some examples may be a Goggle Site, Moodle Page, or Weebly Site. You will need this to store and present you materials to the kids easily.
The platform will house by links or embedded code all of the things you create for your class to experience and to submit assignments to you if you choose. |

Only you need to download an app and you can get up to 40 of the student scan cards for free. |

When building the form students can take it individually, you can see the response submissions instantly, grade quicker with less paper. I usually have students do the work in their journals so that the work is there to address any misconceptions or needs after the quiz is complete. |

Interactive white board built curriculum but do not have an interactive white board? Use Doceri to control it from your computer without being at the computer. |

AirServer is useful for getting your iPad on the projector screen with ease and gives the ability to not be strapped at the desk. My favorite is the ability to take pictures as I am progress monitoring for easy display when discussing everyone's strategies. "Not every App has a website" |

NearPod is another commonly used resource. It has abilities to spice up certain elements of a math lesson. With the open ended response ability you can ask thicker questions for the group to answer and showcase the results after the work period. Since the answers are hidden from students view until you show them o the screen, it can work well for a closing discussion or engagement piece. The results are also printable and it will grade multiple choice questions for you as well.

iBrainstorm |
At A Glance:
iBrainstorm is an application for your tablet. Viewing the collaboration as it is happening would be best done by AirServer to just plugging into the projector. It is best described as being a brainstorm platform on steroids. Students can collaborate together over a topic, you can collaborate together just as you would in a group at the "meeting area" with sticky notes.
Be Aware: These are created as .ibs products when shared. I recommend just taking a screen shot to have a standard photo file. Students can then save to their Drives or you can print easier.
- Interactive ThinkingMap/Sticky Notes
- Printable & Shareable
- Invite up to 3 to collaborate with you

I started using this in the past year and have loved it! I am an elementary teacher so I love things that look eye catching, and so do the younger kids. I use these for vocabulary review, Math Quests, and reviews. Students also use this to showcase their own learning or to create a mini portfolio. Since all you have to do is add a button with a link, my students become familiar with Google Drive so they can create sharable links for their mini portfolios. I am looking forward to another year of perfecting this! The best way to explain this one is to simply give a few examples for you to play with. The backgrounds for all the examples were created using PicCollage and then the links were added in ThingLink. This also works well for a digital word/vocabulary wall. |
